Nick Pierson

Director of Development

Nick’s agriculture journey began in Southern California before he moved to Tucson. He developed a passion for agriculture through 4-H, where he raised swine and cavy and honed leather craft skills. In Tucson, he continued nurturing his agricultural roots on El Rancho Mesquital, caring for steers, horses, and a pot-bellied pig named Willie.

Nick’s commitment to CALES is intrinsic because of his family’s roots. His grandfather, a two-time CALES graduate, taught agriculture on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Following his family’s legacy, Nick’s father graduated in agricultural economics, and his sister earned a degree in merchandising and consumer studies. His uncle is also an animal sciences graduate, cementing the family’s ties to the college.

Nick has devoted almost two decades to advancing the University of Arizona’s mission with the UA Alumni Association, UA Foundation, and now CALES. As the Director of Development stationed in Phoenix, he catalyzes transformative philanthropy, empowering students, supporting faculty research, and enriching Arizona communities through Cooperative Extension initiatives.

Nick holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Arizona.
